With a view to promoting the policy of the Govt. of India and that of NCUI to empower Indian women, NCCE recently organized a 3 day Leadership Development Programme for Chairpersons and Directors of women cooperatives in New Delhi.

Apart from acquiring managerial and professional skills, the participants were trained in devising methods to establish micro-enterprise on cooperative or SHG basis to involve women in income generating activities.

Inaugurating the event, Dr. V. K. Dubey, Director, NCCE said, cooperatives are working hard to increase the income of women by undertaking different activities. He called upon women to start agro-based small processing units in order to help farmers double their income by 2022.

Dubey also suggested the knowledge gained during the training programme should be utilized by the participants in their work places.

G. S. Azad, Consultant and A. R. Srinath, Dy. Director, NCUI were present on the occasion.

Mrs Veena Sachdeva, Assistant Director, who was responsible for coordinating the programme suggested more such events are needed to train women in creating income and employment in the country.
