NCUI: NCCE focuses on SC & ST cooperatives

NCCE organized in the first week of this month a three day Leadership Development Program for Chairmen and Directors of SC and ST Cooperatives of India in New Delhi underscoring the fact that cooperative society as an enterprise was born out of the need to include all sections of society into the mainstream economy.

NCUI wishes to focus especially those co-ops constituting the marginalized sections of society, says a press release issued by the organization.

More than 26 SC/ST cooperative leaders from Assam, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra attended this program. Kiran Kakati, Governing Council member, NCUI inaugurated the first program. Speaking on the occasion he shared his own experiences and struggles with the participants and exhorted them to dedicate their time, knowledge and experience for the betterment of their cooperatives.

He urged the participants to learn not only about the subject matters from resource persons but also try to emulate their speaking style and behavior.

Since most of the participants were attending such a training programme for the first time, they were introduced to the concepts of cooperative ideology, management, role and responsibilities of board of directors, cooperative law, digitalization and computerization.

They were also taught about financial management, record-keeping, leadership styles, programs & schemes for cooperative societies by the faculty of NCCE/NCUI and subject experts from Delhi Cooperative Training Centre, NCDC and NBCFDC.

The participants found the program, to be very informative and effective in helping them understand their role as board of directors for steering their respective cooperative societies on the road to success.
