NCUI & Israel build base for agri-prenuers in India

National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) the apex body of cooperatives organized a seminar last week on “Israel Innovation Model to Implement Commercial Sustainable Farms for Cooperatives and Agriprenuers in India” in collaboration with Trade & Economic Mission, Embassy of Nepal at the NCUI Headquarters, New Delhi.

A new term on the lines of entrepreneurs was coined in a brain-storming session- agri-prenures. It was lapped up by the assembled gathering with great enthusiasm.

In his inaugural speech NCUI, President, Chandra Pal Singh Yadav informed the Israel delegation that the cooperative movement has extended across the entire country comprising 6 lakh cooperatives with 260 million members nationwide.

Chandra Pal thanked the government of Israel which is helping our farmers with its the latest technological innovations & know how under the auspices of Indo-Israel Agricultural Project (IIAP). Under this agreement, 28 centers of excellence in agriculture have been setup in 9 states of India like Haryana, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Bihar, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. In cnsequence, farmers have been deriving benefits including increased production and financial returns on their investment, he added.

NCUI President said ” if we want to achieve new technology and scientific methods we have to identify various techniques already adopted by Israel and use them in India with he help of cooperatives”, he said.

The seminar was attended by NCUI, CEO, Dr Dinesh, Fishcopfed, MD, B.K.Mishra, NCUI Officials and Chandra PaL sINGHrepresentatives from various Israeli companies like David Alexander from Cultivu, Iamar Levy from Herman-Zemel Projects, Abner Chin from Green-2000, Swapnil Ingole, Galcon and several other companies.

Besides, various dignitaries present on the occasion addressed the seminar. Dan Alluf, Agriculture Attache Embassy of Israel said ” our team of experts is visiting India regularly to train the farmers with modern techniques. Seminars and , cluster meetings are also held to discuss on new innovations”, he noted.

Dr A.K.Singh, MD, National Horticulture board said ” we have to teach, inform and educate Indian farmers about how to apply various technologies as developed by Israel in the field of agriculture in their production ” he said.

M.B.Chetti, Assistant Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) said ” we produce a number of technologies but unfortunately there is gap in our extension work, he remarked.

Eyal Zachor, Marketing Coordinator, Export institute of Israel proposed a vote of thanks.
