NCUI concludes 60th Cooperative Week

“Cooperation among Cooperatives important for Cooperative Success” was the theme of Wednesday function at NCUI Auditorium in Delhi.

The delegates of national level cooperative organizations present on the occasion of valedictory function of 60th All India Cooperative Week organized by NCUI called for strengthening cooperation among cooperative organizations so as to highlight the achievements of cooperatives.

Shri V.P.Singh, President, Delhi State Cooperative Union, who was the chief guest on the occasion called for creating a nodal body at the national level to create awareness about good work of the cooperatives. He called the passing of Constitutional Amendment Bill as revolutionary for autonomous and democratic functioning of cooperatives.

Shri B.D. Sinha Managing Director, KRIBHCO said that cooperatives themselves should work together to remove their defects in functioning. He said that cooperative principles and values are very important in the functioning of the cooperative organizations.

Dr. G.N. Saxena, Director (Cooperative Development), IFFCO speaking on the occasion said that in the global economic slow-down, the cooperatives have proved to be the most reliable economic model. The  intrinsic strength of cooperatives ensured that they do not need any bail-out package, while corporate sector fell like house of cards in the last economic recession, he added.

Dr Dinesh, Chief Executive, NCUI elaborated the importance of Cooperative Week celebrations, and role of NCUI in publicizing the cooperative sector achievements. Creating positive image goes a long way in motivating people to join the cooperative movement, he concluded.

On this occasion, the special issue of NCUI publication “The Cooperator” was released, along with release of the special issue of “Pradeepti” of NCCT. NCUI celebrates every year Cooperative Week from 14th to 20th Nov during which an effective road-map for cooperatives in future is formulated. The week-long celebrations start from 14th November, the birthday of Pandit Nehru.
