In a free-wheeling chat with Indiancooperative.com, NCUI’s newly appointed Chief Executive Dr Dinesh Mishra talked about road map of making the presence of NCUI felt in various quarters of the country.
Coop-Connect a program aimed at popularizing spirit of cooperative among children will have its new avatar under the leadership of Dr Mishra. He now wants to format it in a new shape where the children will open a small consumer cooperative in the schools and will pass through the experience of being a co-operator himself. Earlier model was more in the shape of teaching cooperative concepts where children were passive recipient.
More importantly, Dr Mishra wants to take the concept to such schools where student from marginal sections are enrolled. He believes that this concept would be useful more in such schools than in expensive private schools where children have air-conditioned life.
NCUI’s primary job is training. Dr Mishra wants to focus on this in major way. On records we have conducted huge training program through our training Centres spread across the country. But it has to show in real life. We would ensure that society benefits from such program, Dr Mishra added.
Lauding President of NCUI Dr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav, Dr Mishra was gaga over his response. Be it a small problem like putting a lamp post in the NCUI campus or big issue like enhancing the scope of training program ,President is always there to help and guide us, said a satisfied Mishra.
Venturing out to other cooperative institutions such as IFFCO,KRIBHCO, ICA and others ,Dr Mishra says basic tenet of cooperative demands that we keep meeting each other. Observers see in this a departure from the past tradition. They say that earlier Chief Executive of NCUI confined himself/herself to campus alone expecting others to pay visit.
Talking about preparations for International Cooperative year 2012 Dr Mishra said that we had a marathon in-house session of 2-3 hours and we are in a process of finalizing it.
His other concern relates to beautifying NCUI campus through lush green plantation and creating attractive pathways within the campus.
