NCUI Celebrates International Cooperative Day

NCUI is organizing a symposium by inviting eminent speakers and distinguished guests on Saturday 2nd July 2011to mark the International Cooperative Day.

The theme of Panel discussion is “Youth, the future of cooperative enterprise”

Besides President of NCUI Dr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav and Chief Executive Dinesh Mishra, the panel discussion would be joined by  Dr. Chan Ho Choi, Regional Director, ICA-Asia Pacific.

Dr. Gopi N. Ghosh, Assistant FAO Representative in India, Food & Agricultural Organisation of United Nations will also participate along with  Shri Rakesh Mohan, Director General, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangthan and  Shri R.K. Tiwari, Joint Secretary (Cooperation) and Central Registrar, Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India.

International Cooperative Day as well as the UN International Day of Cooperatives is celebrated on the 1st Saturday of July every year.

On this occasion, the International Cooperative Alliance – the global forum of cooperative movement and National Cooperative Union of India – apex body of Indian Cooperative Movement appeals to its members to promote the cooperative movement, solidarity, economic efficiency, peace, equality and to support the national and local cooperative initiatives by organising events.

The United Nations and other organisations release messages to increase awareness on cooperatives to strengthen and extend partnership between International Cooperative Movement and others actors – including Governments at local, national as well as international level.
