NCUI: CE meets BJP top guns, seeks support for co-op movement

An otherwise low profile Chief executive of the apex national co-op body NCUI, N Satayanarayan was upbeat about the reelection of Narendra Modi with a thumping majority and said constitution of a stable govt is a must for strengthening the co-operative movement in the country.

Talking to Indian Cooperative Satyanarayan said ”co-operative is a unique business model and best suited for an economy like ours. It is capable of both employment generation and increasing the income”, he added.

Earlier, NCUI’s Chief Executive paid a call on the outgoing minister in the Modi govt Santosh Kumar Gangwar and greeted him on getting reelected for a record 8th time. He was accompanied by BJP cooperative cell chief Ashok Dabas who was a member of NCUI’s Governing Council in the past.

Satyanarayan also visited Shyam Jaju, BJP Vice- President and In-charge of Delhi & Uttarakhand for guiding the party to a grand Victory. He also met Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

“On behalf of Indian Cooperative movement and on NCUI we went there to congratulate BJP”, said the CE who hoped that several issues plaguing the co-op movement including the NCUI-NCCT problem would be resolved by the ruling dispensation.

It is the responsibility of both the govt and the NCUI to strengthen the co-op movement, he said underlining the crucial role the federal govt still plays in changing the shape of the movement.

The disparity between haves and have-nots is on the rise in India and the co-op movement is best suited to reduce this; it’s a system which works on one-member one vote and can be a game-changer if implemented honestly, stated Satyanarayan.

”We need to encourage and offer an enabling framework for those co-ops which are doing fine and handhold those going through difficulties, he added.

Satyanarayan also thanked ministry officials for their support but wished to get their support in solving the vexed NCCT delink issue amicably. It bears recall that the matter is currently subjudice. NCUI went to court after the Ministry passed an order delinking NCCT from the apex body NCUI.

Though there is an element of uncertainty as to who would be the next cooperation minister, cooperators wish to keep good relation with the ministry officials who are a stable factor in the government.

Indian Cooperative failed to seek NCUI President Chandra Pal Singh’s comment on the new govt as he was traveling after the NAFED elections.
