NCCE trains cooperators of fisheries co-ops

The National Centre for Cooperative Education (NCCE) of NCUI has organized a Leadership Development Programme for Chairmen/ Directors of Fisheries Cooperative Societies at New Delhi last week in which more than 37 participants attended this programme from 8 states i.e. Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

The blue revolution as well as fish farming is playing very important role to meet food security in India. Considering of role of fish farming it is needed now, the rearing and carrying of fish should be scientific manner and production system must be managed professionally. In view of this, the NCCE has tailored training programme for development of managerial skill and learning the innovative scientific technology of fish farming.

The prime objectives of the programme to improve the skill of participants for professional management of cooperative fish farming system and quality production.

N.Satyanarayana, Chief Executive, NCUI inaugurated the Programme and said, that the Fishery Cooperative Sector are playing very important role to provide good quality fishes on remunerative price.

B.K. Mishra, Managing Director, FISHCOFED was also present on the occasion and inform in his speech, about 20,000 cooperatives with more than 2.5 million members are engaged in fish production but they are not aware about new technology and management system. Hence, FISHCOFED has requested to NCCE to organize more programmes for fishery sector. He further says that the NCCE is best centre for training in India.

V.K. Dubey, Director, NCCE said that the knowledge gained by the participants may be utilised in their societies for better prospectus. Doordarshan team also present at the valediction function. After observing the views of participants about learning points through this programme and considering the importance and benefits of the training, the Doordarshan Team have given vide publicity by telecast 30 minutes on Doordarshan Channel on 6 and 7 July, 2016 each day. Rajeev Sharma, Dy. Director, NCCE coordinated the programme.

Some of the topics which were discussed included Scientific rearing, carrying and management of fish production, Professional management of fish marketing including processing of fish products, An overview of the Fishermen’s Cooperative Movement in India, Cooperative Philosophy, Principles & Values, etc.
