NCCE trains consumer co-ops’ officials to compete in market

NCCE recently conducted a Leadership Development Program for Chairmen and Directors of Consumer Cooperative Societies of India at New Delhi in which representatives of the consumer co-ops from several states participated.

Giving details, an NCCE official said that the participants from Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and Karnataka numbering 42 attended the program. The prime objective of the program was to identify the role of board of Directors, qualities of good leadership and good governance and provide participants a platform to interact with one another. .

Inaugurating the program Dr. V.K.Dubey, Director, NCCE, said all Cooperative Consumer societies should promote value added services in areas such as sales and purchases. He also stressed the need of good governance and adoption of information technology in cooperative Consumer Societies so that they could function more effectively.

In his remarks , Virender Singh, Chairmen NCCF, called upon leaders in cooperatives to seek people’s support for the consumer movement’ He also stressed that members should come forward to take advantage of training programs’ He pointed out the negative consequences of the govt. interfering in cooperative affairs.

Addressing the participants, N. Satyanarayana, Chief Executive NCUI said state consumer cooperatives need to play an effective role in implementing the idea of training program in a professional manner and consumers cooperatives need to work more for sustainable development. He also called for more studies to be undertaken by consumer cooperates for growth and development.

As a part of the programme, the participants visited Kendriya Bhandar, Pushp Vihar, New Delhi where Managing Director, Sandeep Bhawa, OSD welcomed the participants and discussed weight measures, standardization, packaging sales & marketing.

During the program experts from Government of lndia and different marketing sectors had discussions about various aspects particularly value added services, assessment of financial interpretations, qualities and functions of Cooperative Leaders, difficulties & problems and strategic solutions for the development of agriculture marketing and cooperative societies.

The participants also got inputs from the program about latest technologies, responsibilities in the management of cooperative consumer societies & challenges of running the societies. The officials from the Government of India, Managing Directors from different National level organizations and Faculty Members of NCCE also attended the program.

Dr. A.R. Srinath, Director & Course Coordinator proposed a vote of thanks on the occasion.
