Mahajan makes a presentation on NCUI Action Plan before Ministry

Making a presentation on the Annual Action Plan for the year 2021-2022 before the Ministry, NCUI Chief Executive Sudhir Mahajan listed several new initiatives undertaken by the apex body in the recent months to strengthen the co-operative movement in the country.

Top officials of the Ministry including Vivek Aggarwal, Additional Secretary, KR Meena, Director and Shekhar Bose, Under Secretary, among others were present in the meeting that took place virtually.

Besides Mahajan, the officials of NCUI present on the occasion included Ms Sandhya Kapoor, Director, Finance/Estate and Rajiv Sharma, Director, Coop Education Field Projects/Coop Connect.

Mahajan said starting of the Skill Development Centre, Noida is on top of the agenda of NCUI in the new Financial year. The Centre will be made operational to train the youth and others for increasing employment opportunities and enhancing entrepreneurial capabilities in the cooperative sector, he stressed.

Collaborations and forging partnerships with Skill Development Universities/National Skill Development Corporation will be made for meeting this objective, the CE added.

Starting of a Coop Haat or E Haat of products being made by SHGs/primary coops was another major initiative, which was highlighted during the meeting. “Preparations to start this Haat sooner than later are going on”, Mahajan underlined.

Preparation of a Strategy Document on the Role of Coops in GDP of India, is another key initiative being undertaken by the NCUI. “This document with quantifiable contributions by various cooperative sectors, will offer a guideline to plan for future involvement of coops in the various govt schemes”, informed the CE in the meeting.

Dr Mahajan in his presentation also discussed subjects like achievement of cooperative education field projects, their impact and their outputs. He also measured their impact in terms of new societies registered, number of societies revitalized and new members enrolled, etc.

The areas of skill development programmes conducted by NCUI Cooperative Education Field Projects were also covered in the presentation.

There were directions from the Ministry officials that a training module for capacity building of secretaries and managers of PACS may be developed, and online and residential training programmes may be organized for this purpose.

The Ministry officials also stressed on end-to-end digitization and all necessary information of beneficiaries of NCUI Coop Education Field projects may be uploaded on Kisan Suvidha App/Umang.
