Sharing their experiences on the valedictory day of the five day International program organized by the apex body NCUI in collaboration with CICTAB, participants found the training program informative about various useful topics. The valedictory was held last week at the NCUI headquarters.
One of the participants namely Bholenath from Nepal said, “ The training program added to my knowledge but I would like to explain how. Firstly, the topic related to Self Help Groups (SHGs) was wholly new for us and the knowledge we gained could be replicated in our country ”.
Secondly, ”we learnt about the working style of Nabard in India which lends credit to the rural finance institutions. We will urge our policy makers to set up a similar institution in Nepal. And in addition, digitalization was one of the topics that interested us the most”.
Another participant from Bangladesh Nilima Nasrin said, “During the five day training program we have gained knowledge about the cooperative bank system of India. This program has also given us a platform to exchange ideas between participants of countries”.
Several other participants also shared their reactions.
29 participants of Central Banks, Cooperative and Rural financing institutions of SAARC countries viz Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and India have participated in the training program.
In his remarks, Vamnicom Director Dr K K Tripathy informed about the objectives and functions of CICTAB and urged participants to replicate the knowledge gained in their respective cooperatives”.
Addressing the participants ICA-AP Regional Director Balu Iyer who had been invited as the chief guest said, “Trainers play a very important role in cooperatives by educating member institutions, shareholders and the public. I request you to attract more and more youths and women and encourage them to join cooperatives”.
NCUI CE N Satyanaryana said the poorest of the poor are being served only through cooperative institutions in India.
