Heroic tales of women should dominate discourse: Sanghani

The apex body of co-operatives in the country NCUI celebrated Women’s Day at its headquarters by inviting hundreds of women connected to self-help groups, floated in Delhi by the NCUI itself.

Speaking on the occasion, NCUI President Dileep Sanghani said the sob stories of women being badly treated should not be repeated. What we should discuss on such occasions are the heroic acts being done by women amidst us. Naming Kalpana Chawala and others, Sanghani said we have enough examples to encourage women and there is no need to harp on cases of injustice against women, as it leads to despondency. Let’s believe women can do it, underlined Sanghani.

Sanghani also pointed out that the dais at the NCUI auditorium should have more than 50% women. He vowed to rectify the situation in the future. Savitri Singh, the female ED of NUCI was the lone occupant at the dais, dominated by the likes of Bijender Singh, CE Sudhir Mahajan, and Sanghani himself. Ved Prakash Setia was also sitting on the dais.

“We should invite performers from among the women who have made a mark in her field for others to get inspired. Women today are doing excellent in almost all social and economic fields. Today is the day to hear them out”, said Sanghani.
