Desikanandanpuram Adi Draidar Cooperatie House Site Society in Chennai has won against the authorities.
Madras High Court has ruled that the authorities immediately hand over 56 grounds of land to the society’s members as planned almost two decades and a half ago.
The court was critical of the authorities’ scrapping of the housing scheme.
The Court observed once an acquisition is made and an award passed no authority is empowered to withdraw the proceedings unless the govt changes its policy.
The housing society had petitioned the court for intervention in the matter.
