Onion crisis: Nafed Director demands CBI enquiry
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

NAFED Director Ashok Thakur said decisions taken by the Delhi cabinet and the Delhi govt’s ministry of food processing in the last five months should be probed into by the Central Bureau of Investigation and he demanded Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation pending the probe.

He accused the Delhi government of increasing the prices of onion and lentils to give benefits to traders who are directly connected with Kejriwal’s Ministers.

Besides, Thakur said he had asked the Dehi govt. to buy lentils at cheaper rate from NAFED but they refused to buy and as a result the prices of these commodities are increasing. .

The Delhi government is subject to allegations of corruption over onions, bending machines, advertising and others.kejriwal All these decisions have been taken under the leadership of Kejriwal, Thakur added.

NAFED Director referred to the recent Niti Ayog report that mentions manipulation of a huge amount of money in the sale of onions. This confirms allegations leveled against the Delhi govt, he said.

”I always said no subsidy should be given to the mother dairy considering the sale of onions by it at an exorbitant cost. All this is being deliberately managed by the Kejriwal government,” said Nafed director.

He further said the Delhi food Processing Minister Asim Mohammad Khan’s resignation on charges of corruption is not enough and Arvind Kejriwal as the head of the govt too should tender his resignation, he demanded.
