Nafed signs MoU with IAS academy’s Centre for Co-op & Livelihood

To create mutually beneficial relationship and Capacity Building for the Cooperative sector, the agri cooperative giant NAFED signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Centre for Cooperatives & Livelihood (CCL), Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie. It was signed at the headquarters of Nafed in Delhi.

Under the MoU, NAFED will provide seed capital to LBSNAA’s corpus. The MoU will give an impetus to the ongoing research on the role of the Cooperative movement specifically in the area of Agriculture & Agribusiness promotion, with the objective of doubling farmers income & will enhance livelihood generation at the grassroots level.

The MoU was signed by A.K. Rath, Executive Director, NAFED & Dr Milind Ramteke, Deputy Director, in the presence of Nafed Chairman Dr Bijender Singh, MD Sanjeev Chadha and others.

On behalf of LBSNAA its Director Sanjeev Chopra was present. NCUI President Dileep Sanghani, ICA-AP Regional Director Bala Subramanian also graced the occasion.

The news was shared by the social media handle of Nafed. They wrote, ” Yet another Milestone – NAFED & LBSNAA signs Historic MoU today to widen the role of Cooperative Sector in the country to achieve the PM’s vision of Doubling Farmers Income”.

Nafed is registered under the MSCS Act. Nafed was set up with the objective to promote Co-operative marketing of Agricultural Produce to benefit the farmers.

NAFED during 2019-20 achieved a turnover of Rs 16280.98 crore with a net profit of Rs 165.65 crore. NAFED continued to be one of the Central Nodal agencies of the Government of India for procurement of Oilseeds and Pulses under Price Support Scheme, in addition to maintaining buffers of pulses on its behalf. During 2019-20, a quantity of 33,03,157 MT of oilseeds and pulses valuing over Rs 16066 Crores were procured.

It bears recall that earlier, Nafed Chairman Bijendra Singh inaugurated Nafed Bazar Outlet virtually at Kailash Colony, New Delhi. Under one roof, Nafed is providing its products including pulses, spices, grains, flours, honey, edible oils, flax seeds, chia seeds, tea, etc to the consumers.
