Gujarat State Urban Banks Federation and Gujarat State Co-operative Bank felicitated Jyotindra Mehta on his election as the President of NAFCUB.
Gujarat State Governor Om Prakash Kohli was the Chief Guest at a function organized in the auditorium of GSCB in Ahmadabad on Thursday. Several prominent cooperators of the state including Satish Marathe and GH Amin were present on the occasion.
Earlier in a fiercely contested election held in New Delhi Jyotindra Mehta was elected President of the apex body of UCBs’ called NAFCUB. Mehta bagged 14 votes while runner up Mr Manam Anjaneyulu could only get support of five Directors.
The election was not without its share of controversies. It was a mid-term election after the then President Mukund Abhyankar was voted out in a no-confidence motion. He went to court and the Bombay High Court asked him to go in for arbitration first.
Known popularly as Mamaji in Rajkot and Gujarat Mehta is also on the board of the apex national cooperative body NCUI.
