Sahakar Bharati Chief debunks Amartya Sen

sahakar bhartiSahakar Bharati Chief Shri Satish Marathe has joined the social media attack on Amratya Sen for saying that “academic governance in India remains so deeply vulnerable to the opinions of the ruling government.”

Satish Marathe (@SatishMarathe1) tweeted on Saturday” Dr Amartya Sen is A Victim Of Self Ego”. And Marathe was not alone as scores of prominent people attacked Sen for his non-performance and pronounced affinity to Gandhi-Nehru Family.

Kanchan Gupta, the well-known journalist retweeted “Best tweet of the day “@hstapanghosh: Amartya Sen had 8 yrs to build Nalanda. He spent 6 yrs attacking Modi & 2 yrs promoting Rahul Gandhi.”

The noble prize winner in economics Sen was disappointed with lack of clearance on the file for his extension at the desk of the President of India Shri Pranab Mukerjee who is the Visitor of upcoming Nalanda University where Prof Sen was the Chancellor.

The governing body had recommended another term to the Nobel Laureate in January 2015. At this Prof Sen said “It is hard for me not to conclude that the government wants me to cease being the Chancellor of Nalanda University after this July,” Prof. Sen had said in a letter written to members of the governing board on February 19. His three-year term as Chancellor ends in July.

Tavleen Singh, another journalist tweeted to know as to how much does Sen draw as salary from a poor state like Bihar.

Another tweet says when the university formally opened for its first academic session last September, Sen did not turn up for the event. Second, Amartya Sen has not distinguished his tenure as chairman of the board (and de facto chancellor) by setting any great example of high-minded governance. In fact, the key appointments to the university have been dogged by controversies relating to nepotism and non-transparency.
