NCCF: Virendra or Vishal?

NCCF Board is almost chosen as four directors out of 5 being elected unopposed on the final day of nomination on Thursday. Bijender Singh ,Nafed Chairman has been declared elected unopposed from north while Vishal Singh, son of Ajit Singh has got elected un opposed from east. Virendra Singh, the incumbent Chairman has got elected from west spanning Gujarat and Maharashtra. There is a new entry from UP in Ambika Singh who belongs to Varanasi and is said to be close to Virendra Singh. No body turned up from southern states and thus so far only four directors have made it to the list. The final picture will emerge by today noon.

There is also talk of many genuine nominations being rejected or persons interested in fighting being discouraged. Talking to Indiancooperative.com one of the aspirants Mr. Ramesh Ramhatt said that though he submitted 3 set of papers backed by representatives of Gujarat, Punjab and Bihar, yet his nomination was not accepted. Election officer did not sit at all and all the four who got elected had their papers collected from NCUI by one Mr Kalia of NCCF. Rejected aspirants are also questioning the societies the elected ones represent and point out that most of them are defunct. Central registrar should indeed look into this.

Vishal or Virendra? Whose Friday turns out to be lucky will be clear by the evening. In some quarters of cooperative world a compromise formula is also being talked about where in for the first two and half years Virendra Singh will rule while for second two and half years Vishal Singh will have the chairman ship. It will be indeed a replay of BJP-JMM in Jharkhand or BSP-BJP formula in UP. The world of cooperative is no less complex. But the big question is who should be the first to start the job. Deap seated doubt in both the camps make it an uneasy arrangement. As of now two directors are with Vishal and two with Virendra.

India cooperative has also reliably come to know that Virendra had tired to stall Vishal’s candidature through Central Registrar office by citing the fact that neither does he (Vishal) represent state federation nor any society.

But cooperative leader Dr Chandra Pal Singh is labouring hard to strike consensus.
