Cooperatives can change Arunachal Pradesh

The cooperative bodies can play an important role in the development of Arunachal Pradesh said governor J J Singh addressing an official meeting in upper Subansiri district recently.

He urged the local farmers to take the help of the cooperative societies in the marketing of their cash crops such as ginger and oranges.

He also called on the people to see their difficulties as challenges and work hard for the transformation of this frontier state.

The spread of cooperatives in rural areas are already making waves in the countrysides. In the northern states of Bihar, West Bengal , Orissa and Chattisgarh paddy procurement through cooperatives have gone a long way in strengthening the cooperative formations.

It is heartening to note cooperative being suggested as a credible agent of development in otherwise backward states of North East.
