We support amendments:FISHCOFED

The duo of Naim Ahmed Ansari and BK Mishra of Fishcofed are in full support of proposed amendments of multi state cooperative act, 2002. In a free wheeling chat with this correspondent, they said that who wants to go to court where the fees are exorbitantly high and the process is inordinately delayed.

If the Central Registrar adjudicates the matter on a priority basis, it is always  welcomed. They were referring to a clause in new amendments wherein decision of central registrar can not be called into question in any court.

Talking to Indian cooperative, they said that in cooperatives where govt share is more than 90 per cent its getting concerned with the functioning of organization is logical. But where it is less than 50 percent, a debate is possible.

They also obliquely hinted at the fact that cooperative leaders talking in favour or against have personal reasons to do so. When Fishcofed was in dumps a few years ago, hardly any organization including NCUI moved to help it out. It was government and government alone which helped us pull it out of despair and decline, they added.

They did admit that excessive government is bad but a limited role of government is helpful in the present condition of cooperatives in India
