A press release from Kribhco says that Neem coated urea is a true Make in India product as it is eco-friendly, cost effective and has efficiency advantages. Neem plant a true friend of farmers since ancient time, is widely grown all over India and its commercial use is well known from Vedic period over 4000 years.
Readers would be aware that KRIBHCO had recently launched a Neem coated urea at University of Agriculture science Bangalore. The function was inaugurated by Union agriculture minister Shri Radha Mohan Singh and union fertilizer minister Shri Ananth Kumar.
The Releases says that scientists have been struggling for over a long period of time to improve nitrogen use efficiency of Urea. Now they have used tradition value of neem in increasing nitrogen use efficiency of urea. Neem oil is used in making neem coated urea. Presently, India consumption is only 60 Lakh MT Neem coated urea which can be increase the fulfill the demand of 310 lakh MT Urea in the country.
Neem Coated urea cost is higher by 5% compare to plain prilled urea. However it reduced nitrogen losses more than 10%; hence a net saving of Rs.13050/bags to farmers. Use of neem coated urea due to higher nitrogen use efficiency can also eliminate import of urea resulting into a huge foreign exchange saving, the Release adds.
