Bagchi Bhai Patel, the doyen of cooperative movement in Gujarat has emerged as the new chairman piping others to the post in Kribhco elections held in NCUI on 20th May,2010. Having been associated with cooperative movement for last 35 years Mr Patel is the vice chairman of NAFED and Chairman of Gujarat Marketing Federations.Connected to the grass root till date he is still the chairman of District cooperative bank, Rajkot.
According to the outgoing Chairman Mr Chandra Pal Singh, Mr Patel was elected Chairman of Kribhco unanimously and unopposed.
Mr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav has been elected as Vice-Chairman in today’s election. After becoming President of NCUI it seemed his relation with Kribhco will grow dim. But now with his victory he remains a force to reckon with.
According to sources, the choice of finding out the consensus candidate was left on the shoulder of Chandra Pal. His first choice was Dr Bijender Singh of NAFED. But sensing the strong pull and push of elected Directors he felt that Bagchi Bhai has wider support. Soon a consensus was worked out and Baghchi Bhai’s name was announced. All in all the process went off smoothly.
Earlier voting for constituency number 4 led to the victory of Mr Paresh Patel who got 22 votes out of 35.Other uncontested directors are Chandra Pal Singh, Bijender Singh, Sudhakar Chy from Andhra, Bagchi Bai Patel from Gujarat, Mr Sekhawat from Madhya Pradesh, Mrs Nigam from Maharashtra and Mr Sunil Singh from Bihar.
