KRIBHCO forays into Power generation in big way

KRIBHCO has signed an agreement with Bihar State Electricity Board to produce thermal power at Chausa in Buxer district of Bihar. The plant would produce 1320 MW of electricity.

Talking to Indian cooperative KRIBHCO Chairman Bagchi Patel said that the fertilizer cooperative intends to diversify and the production of thermal power is step in that direction. We are happy with this development, said Bagchi Bhai.

B D Sinha, the Managing Director of Kribhco was on holiday and his secretary Kukreja expressed inability to establish this correspondent’s contact with Mr Sinha.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that 85 percent of electricity produced by Chausa Plant will be consumed by the state of Bihar.

Earlier, KRIBHCO entered into JV  to produce 156 MW of electricity at Mora near Hazira  in Gujarat at the cost of Rs 613 crore. The plant is operational since 2002.
