Malaysia celebrates IYC-2012

The Cooperative College of Malaysia and the National Cooperative Organisation of Malaysia (ANGKASA) are holding an international conference on “Cooperative Enterprises Build a Better World” in Kuala Lumpur on March 13-14 2012.

The major event is being organized with great fervor to launch celebrations connected with United Nations International Year of Cooperatives-2012.

The organizers have invited Dr Daman Prakash, Consultant of IFFCO Foundation and former Director of ICA Regional Office for Asia-Pacific to address the Conference.

Dr Daman Prakash has a number of books and articles to his credit.

Other guest speakers who would address the Conference are: Dr Peter Davis, Director at the University of Leicester School of Management and Editor of the International Journal of Cooperative Management; Ms Karen Froggatt of the Cooperative Group-UK; Mr Mikel Lazamiz of Mondragon-Spain; and, Drs HA Wiherno Susanto of Puskud-Jatim, Indonesia.

The conference to be attended by over 300 participants from Asia-Pacific region is an initiative to promote and demonstrate the significance of Cooperative Movement that has been inspiring people’s life for nearly 200 years and still remains relevant till now.

It is hoped to be a platform to unite cooperators from the Asia-Pacific Region to share common aspirations of cooperative values and principles that could collectively create innovations and discuss ideas on how cooperative enterprises build a better world.
