IFFCO’s field trials on nano fertilizers are showing encouraging results from various parts of the country. “The field trails are going on in almost all the states and in several union territories.

Presently, the field trails are in progress on farms of over 11,000 farmers, said IFFCO’s Marketing Director Yogendra Kumar, who has of let been touring in remote areas connecting with farmers.

The nano products have been researched and developed indigenously at the IFFCO Nano Biotechnology Research Centre (NBRC) in the Kalol Unit. Recently, IFFCO launched another Nano lab in its Aonla unit.

It is being said that these nanostructured formulations will reduce the requirement of conventional nitrogen chemical fertilizers by 50%, will deliver nutrition to the plant in an environmentally sustainable manner and be available to the farmers at reduced costs.

Experts believe using nano technology-based products will certainly help reduce expenditure on pesticides and fertilizers as well as help in maintaining soil health and improving the quality of agriculture products.

Readers would recall that in 2018, with the intention of reducing the use of chemicals in farming and doubling the income of farmers by increasing production and reducing expenditure, IFFCO has inaugurated ‘IFFCO Tarafdar Nano Lab’ at Kalol plant in Gujarat.
