The news of JV between the Indian cooperative giant IFFCO and the Japanese automobile major Mitsubishi has captured media attention in an unprecedented manner as most of the leading domestic media houses as well as the foreign media remained busy covering the subject for most of the Thursday.

The company was formally launched on Wednesday at the IFFCO’s head office in New Delhi. The logo of the newly formed company was exchanged between Mr Balvinder Singh Nakai, Chairman, IFFCO & Masakazu Sakakida, Chairman & Managing Director, Mitsubishi Corporation India.

Times of India, India Today, Dainik Bhaskar, Hindu and a host of other newspapers prominently displayed the news throughout the day. Not to be left behind the leading channels of the country including Aaj Tak followed the suit.

The IFFCO brigade led by none other than its MD Dr US Awasthi held the fort for most of Thursday on social media twitting every bit of news connected with the development.

Even the foreign media reported the matter extensively with some picking up the news- item straight from the columns of Indian Cooperative on the issue, underscoring once gain the popularity of the cooperative portal globally.

Talking to India Cooperative one of the top officials of the IFFCO explained how the media went gung ho covering the JV story. The IFFCO has established its brand in the field of fertilizer and a farmer buys Iffco stuff without any fear in his mind.

The IFFCO’s foray into pesticide would again make him buy such stuff without having to bother about the quality of product. And it is no mean feat given the huge population remaining dependent on agriculture in the country, he added.

Readers would know that the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (IFFCO), the largest producer and seller of fertilisers in the country with a view to strengthening the “Make in India” campaign started by Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India by joining hands with the global player in agrochemicals business, Mitsubishi Corporation, Japan, has formed a Joint Venture Company “IFFCO-MC Crop Science Private Limited.” The IFFCO will hold 51% stake in the company & the rest will be with Mitsubishi Corporation, Japan. The company will manufacture the quality agrochemicals in India.
