Dr U S AwasthiMedia reports tend to suggest that Iffco has faulted on the issue of non-utilization of a piece of real estate allotted to the fertilizer cooperative major for developing a sophisticated Kisan SEZ in Richarlapadu near Nellore in Andhra Pradesh.

Indian Cooperative’s attempt to get at the bottom of truth threw up a rather different version of the story. No media report says that the delay was due to a pending court case. Instead, they rush to accuse Iffco for the delay.

Iffco MD Dr U S Awasthi reacted promptly to a short mail from the Indian Cooperative. By evening Indian Cooperative desk received Iffco’s stand thereby lifting the veil from the issue.

Media Report said anger is simmering as the IFFCO has failed to redeem its promise to start various industrial projects on the land and offer employment and other benefits for the local people.

While in reality as Iffco PR Manager Harshendra Singh Verdhan clarified “The IFFCO Kisan SEZ (IKSEZ) land got stuck-up in court since Feb, 2012 due to a litigation pending before Andhra Pradesh High Court. The case was argued in High Court and recently this year in March only, IKSEZ won the case after a long battle in the court. “

Harsh further adds that “although the construction work for Infrastructure development kept on going in the same IKSEZ land, it also became operational by virtue of few companies starting exporting their products from IKSEZ.”

“IKSEZ is already in process of exploring more companies to start their projects in the same IKSEZ land. Some of these proposals are in advanced stages of Project implementation”, he added.
