IFFCO launches “imandi” for farmers

Tackling the issues of farmers in a comprehensive manner, IFFCO has launched a mob application called “iMandi” which answers their survival needs on the one hand and cultural needs on the other.

Explaining the features of the new app IFFCO Marketing Director Yogendra Kumar who launched it in Haryana said “in a nutshell, imandi is a one stop app where one can order agri stuff at a discount of 2 percent, discuss agri-related issues on one platform and hear songs if one desires.”

Developed by a Singapore company and promoted by Venture Capitalist Mr B K Agrawal, the app has about six facilities, to begin with. “Shortly we will have more features such as buying agricultural produce directly from farmers and supplying them agri products on credit. We would also have TV channels which one choose from”, underlined Kumar.

Earlier, IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi shared the news by tweeting “Glad to share that today #IFFCO launched a new smart phone multipurpose application for #iMandi for the #farmers and all those who have interest in #farming #agriculture. @iffcoyogendra marketing director #IFFCO launched it from Birhikalan village of dadri in #haryana.’

There is a feature named “Gyan Bhandar” which is a store house of agri-knowledge, underlined Kumar.

IFFCO always ahead in technological breakthroughs had earlier launched several apps and one such mobile app knits the entire IFFCO employees counting close to 5500 into one group.

The man who restlessly goads us into adopting the cutting edge technologies is our MD Dr U S Awasthi, said Kumar to Indian Cooperative. Kumar also lauded Manish Gupta, the head of IFFCO bajar, another novel project of IFFCO in launching the new app iMandi.

IFFCO is also in the process of making a mobile app for cooperatives societies as cooperative profiling comes in handy for the corporate sector while dealing with the farmers. More than 3 crore societies have been shortlisted so far, said an IFFCO official.
