On the day the Union Cabinet approved amendments in Power Tariff Policy to ensure 24X7 affordable Power for all, cooperative giant IFFCO commissioned a 235 KWP Solar Power Plant at its Phulpur unit in Uttar Pradesh.
Sharing the news Dr. U S Awasthi, MD tweeted “#IFFCO #Phulpur has commissioned a 235 KWp #Solar #Power Plant. Generate more dn 3lakh kWh/year #renewable energy.”
On Wednesday the Cabinet approved viability gap funding of Rs. 5050 crore for grid connected solar with a minimum capacity setup of 5000 MW. Piyush Goyal, the coal and energy minister tweeted “Cabinet has approved viability gap funding of Rs. 5050 crore for grid connected solar with a minimum capacity setup of 5000 MW.”
A great votary of solar power IFFCO has been making efforts in this direction for quite a long time. Earlier, it installed solar plant street lights in adopted villages and offered to fund researches in cost effective storage of solar
power due to unavailability of Sun in the night.
IFFCO had earlier also commissioned 50 Kwp Solar Power Plant at Surender Jakhar Bhavan in Gurgaon in Haryana. Keeping pace with national as well as global imperatives of switching over to the renewal mode of energy, IFFCO MD said that we are committed to protecting environment and this small move is the first step towards the bigger goal.
The CCEA on Wednesday approved setting up over 5,000 MW of Grid-Connected Solar PV Power Projects on build, own & operate basis, giving a major boost in the field of renewable energy.
Goyal is also eager to make the solar power cheaper as is clear from his tweet ”Govt initiatives to make #Solar energy cheaper”.
