IFFCO gets governmental go-ahead for exporting Nano Urea

The Department of Chemical and Fertilizer, GOI has given go ahead to IFFCO for exporting a part of its production of Nano Urea fertilizer, currently being produced in its Gujarat based Kalol Plant.

Reacting to the development IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi told Indian Cooperative “We have dedicated Nano Urea to World farmers and want it to be made available to all to give new a dimension to sustainable agriculture and climate mitigation”.

In a reply from the Department the Ministry official Niranjan Lal, Director writes that the Competent Authority has accorded permission to IFFCO for export of Nano Urea (Liquid) fertilizer.

The Ministry has also put certain conditions such as total export will not exceed 20% of the total production of Nano Urea (Liquid) fertilizer in a year and no subsidized raw material (fertilizer/urea) will be used for production of Nano Urea (Liquid) fertilizer.

The letter asks IFFCO to approach the Department of Fertilizers for grant of NOC on case to case basis in prescribed proforma as per DGFT Notification No. 67/2015-20 dated 7 January, 2019.

The letter was shared on Twitter by IFFCO’s Marketing Director Yogendra Kumar.

The hint of the things to come was amply available in the written reply in Rajya Sabha by Union Minister of Chemical and Fertilizer Mansukh Mandaviya. He had said in Rajya Sabha that IFFCO has sought permission from the Department of Fertilizers for export of Nano Urea (liquid) manufactured from its Nano Fertilizer Plant facility set up at Kalol, Gujarat.

Mandaviya had also praised IFFCO Nano Urea and said this could enhance farmer’s crop yields and save nitrogen to the extent of 50%, show trials.
