The largest fertilizer cooperative in the world IFFCO is all set to launch its most ambitious product NANO range of fertilizers, as indicated by a series of webinars being organized with all the stake-holders including Union Ministers.
IFFCO organized two webinars in quick succession on the subject. While in one of the Webinars IFFCO invited Sadaanand Gowda, as the Chief Guest, in the second one it had Mansukh Mandaviya as the Chief Guest.
Besides the IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi and the Vice-Chairman Dileep Sanghani, several prominent people including the scientist Ramesh Raliya, VCs of agri universities and the common farmers were part of the Webinar.
Thanking the Ministers, the IFFCO MD said the idea of use of Nano in agriculture derived from the Prime Minister’s emphasis on soil health. “Our Prime Minister has stressed on the need of soil health from every platform including the Red Fort and we at IFFCO took it up as a challenge”, said Awasthi addressing the Webinar.
Lauding the efficacy of Nano Urea, Awasthi said that nitrogen emission is one of the main culprits behind global warming and the use of Nano range will lead to heavy reduction in the same. The corona pandemic is also partly a result of global warming, he warned.
Awasthi also suggested that Nano can be either used 100 per cent or 50% with the traditional urea which comes in the bag. Nano urea also has an addition of micro-nutrients which is going to benefit farms, he informed.
The MD also informed that the Minister has given the green light and encouraged IFFCO to go in for Nano-DAP. “We are soon going to come up with Nano DAP , as work is going on in full swing ”, he informed.
The IFFCO MD said that the demand for Nano is also coming from foreign countries and in the 31st AGM, IFFCO may spell out its plan as to how IFFCO is going to help farmers of other countries.

Calling IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi as his friend, philosopher and guide, Union Minister Sadananda Gowda said “whenever I have a ticklish issue at hand on the subject of fertilizer, I phone Awasthi and seek his guidance”. Calling Nano as a game changer for the farm sector, Gowda asked farmers of Karnataka to start using it extensively.
The preparations for the launch of IFFCO’s Nano fertilizers were noticeable from last week. First, it was the Vice Chairman Dileep Sanghani and later IFFCO’s senior Director IFFCO R P Singh who wrote on social media about the upcoming launch of Nano fertilizer.
The govt controlled AIR reports “Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (IFFCO) will launch Nano Urea in the market next month. 500-ml Nano Urea, which costs 240 rupees, is equivalent to 45kg of normal urea. Besides reducing the cost of cultivation, it increases the yield.”
