Fertilizer major IFFCO has declared a net profit of Rs 1000 crore ending November 2010. Bagging several awards and diversifying in many fields IFFCO has proved once again the power of concept of true cooperative.
A network of 40 thousand member and a management team ever eager to improve, the multi state cooperative has expanded fertilizer capacity and reduced energy consumption. By December 2010 it sold 93 lakh tonnes of fertilizers and produced over 65 lakh tonnes.
IFFCO switched from Naptha to LNG in Phulpur thereby earning carbon emission trading.
Talking to Indiacooperative.com, IFFCO Managing Director Dr US Awasthi said that year 2011 would further see many plans taking shape at IFFCO. It already has tied up with world’s renowned dairy company FONTERA to produce and distribute high quality milk in the country. We have plans of major expansion of Kalol plant and we would start energy saving in Kalol and Phulpur, added Dr Awasthi.
Enumerating plans on the occasion of new year Dr Awasthi said that commissioning of water soluble fertilizer and zinc sulphate plant in Kandla are other areas of focus. Save the soil campaign is another concept close to Dr Awasthi’s heart and he wishes to focus on this in big way.
IFFCO has meanwhile created ripples on international scene also as Obama has praised IFFCO’S Kisan Sanchar concept and wanted other countries to emulate this. According to sources it has also been selected for the prestigious IFA award on safety , health and environment.
The high earning achieved by IFFCO is result of hard work as it successfully revived Paradeep Unit and ICS Senegal. Now it has started the construction of Jordan India Fertilizer Company Limited.
