IFFCO bid to give IT identity to farmers

Giving a push to the Digital India campaign the farmers’ cooperative IFFCO ventured into the villages coaching farmers how to operate computers. PR Manager Harshendra Vardhan’s Face Book wall is filled up with photographs of farmers learning the ropes of high technology.

The farmers of the IFFCO’s adopted village Chindgaon Tamoli in the Harda district of Uttar Pradesh were the first to receive training. Nitin Patidar junior regional representative of the IFFCO coached every farmer of the village.

The training was thorough as soon after the training the farmers were able to create their emails and name plates. They were advised to put up the printouts in front of their houses. The farmers were a happy lot going online.

The farmers could not miss out the importance of this training especially in the face of the new govt’s determination to implement schemes through digital media. The Prime Minister is almost obsessed with the idea and a situation is emerging where only a computer literate farmer could avail himself of the benefits.

IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi who has been personally spearheading the digital campaign tweeted “ Innovation by #IFFCO in #Chindwara. Trained #Farmers 4 comp & Internet. Gave an IT Identity @PMOIndia @_DigitalIndia.”

The Uttar Pradesh IFFCO team has also been active educating farmers on other fronts and held a farmers’ meet where several directors including Aditya Yadav participated. It also recognized Ram Saran Verma of Barabanki -one of the progressive farmers who uses ?the IFFCO recommendations for his farming practices.
