IFFCO has yet again made a mark on the global cooperative scene with its Joint General Manager (Cooperative Relations) Tarun Bhargava getting unanimously elected as the first Chairperson of International Cooperative Entrepreneurship Think Tank (ICETT). It is a globally acclaimed body with a mission to encourage out of the box business solutions.
ICETT is an initiative of the body representing co-ops worldwide namely International Cooperative Alliance (ICA). It was formed in the first meeting organized in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in conjunction with the ICA General Assembly and the V Co-operative Summit of the Americas in 2018.
Talking to Indian Cooperative Bhargava said, “This recognition of IFFCO is a salute to the Visionary and Inspirational Leadership of Managing Director, IFFCO, Dr U.S. Awasthi, who constantly motivates us to Look Beyond and Do More. It will be a big responsibility on IFFCO, India will definitely add a new dimension to the current scenario of Cooperative Movement across the Globe. Further, this group will work cohesively to integrate the Cooperatives from various sectors and implement the ICA Strategic plan”, he said to this correspondent on the phone.
As soon as his name was announced, a graduate from BITS Pilani Tarun Bhargava started receiving greetings from across the world. From ICA President Ariel Guarco to IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi and others congratulated him. Even Rajya Sabha MP and former Union Minister Suresh Prabhu congratulated Bhargava on his victory.
Suresh Prabhu wrote on his twitter wall, ” Congrats @bhargava_tarun for this India’s progress in #Coop is recognised at @icacoop for tremendous strides by our #coop with reach to 200 million mainly #rural population. Great work by @IFFCO_PR”.
ICA President Ariel Guarco wrote on social media, “Congratulations to @IFFCO_PR and its representative @bhargava_tarun, new Chair of the #ICETT. I’m sure that your experience and trajectory within the #coop movement at the service of ICETT will be enriching and a great contribution for all”.
IFFCO MD wrote on his twitter wall, ” #IFFCO got another important position in the global cooperative platform @icacoop. Readers would recall that the IFFCO team led by Aditya Yadav, BOD, IFFCO is also on the board of ICA.
The objective of the ICETT is to serve as a strategic hub for the co-op movement in order to strengthen the entrepreneurial performance of co-operatives.
This ICETT group consists of Rabobank-Netherlands, Mondragon-Spain, SMART-Belgium, SOK-Finland, Mondragon – Spain, The Midcounties Cooperative – UK, Kibbutz Movement–Israel, Sancour Seguros-Argentina and other big cooperatives of the Globe including Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Ltd. (IFFCO).
