IFFCO: Awasthi discusses fertilizer scenario with Gowda

IFFCO Managing Director Dr U S Awasthi met the newly appointed Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers DV Sadananda Gowda at his office last week in New Delhi and apprised him of the various works being done by IFFCO in the interest of farmers.

It was Awasthis’s first one and one meeting with the Minister. It bears recall that following the sudden demise of Union Minister and Karnataka BJP leader Ananth Kumar, Union Ministers Sadananda Gowda was assigned additional portfolios of the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers.

Awasthi shared the photographs on social media and tweeted, “Today, I met Shri DV Sadananda Gowda Ji,@DVSBJP Hon’ble Minister Of Chemicals, Fertilisers, Statistics and Program Implementation, GoI at his office. Welcomed & greeted him on taking the charge of Fertilisers Minister also. Had a nice interaction about work done by #IFFCO”.

In the meeting IFFCO MD held discussions on the prevailing fertilizer scenario both domestic and global. He also gave the minister the lowdown on various works being done by IFFCO. It bears recall that IFFCO meets more than 20 percent of the fertilizer needs of India. Dr U S Awasthi presented the new minister with a bouquet of flowers and a shawl.

In the recently concluded 54th Annual Seminar of Fertilizer Association of India IFFCO had received several awards from Sadnanda Gowda. IFFCO’s Phulpur was adjudged the best performing urea plant in the country. The Environment Protection Award in nitrogenous plant was also bestowed on IFFCO’s Phulpur, IFFCO’s Kalol was declared the runner up. IFFCO’s Kalol was also declared a runner up in the Excellence Award in safety.

The IFFCO Delhi also bagged awards in the category of Transfer of Improved Farm Technology, in the category of marketing of micro-nutrients which were received by its Marketing Director Yogendra Kumar. Kumar also bagged the second prize for an article on the subject of agriculture science.
