ICA victory: IFFCO thanks all

DSC04265IFFCO has thanked all the fellow cooperators soon after its candidate Aditya Yadav romped home with a huge margin in the keenly contested election to the Board of International Cooperative Alliance held Sunday at Quebec City, Canada.

It was a remarkable show of unity by the ICA (Asia-Pacific) who rallied behind our candidate, said Dr G N Saxena, Director Iffco. Our very special thanks are due to Mr. Li Chunsheng, Chairman, ICA-Asia Pacific and Mr. Won-Byung Choi of South Korea, he added.

During our Regional Meet held recently at Bali all the members had responded very positively to the candidature of Aditya Yadav as he had a free and frank interaction with them, Saxena added.

“Our Canadian allies were also very helpful as they rallied solidly behind us. In particular I would like to thank Monique F. Leroux, President and Chief Executive Officer of Desjardins Group, the leading cooperative financial group in Canada” Dr Saxena added.

Referring to domestic cooperators Dr Saxena said “we were overwhelmed by their support. Our MD wanted me to contact each of them and they were so forthcoming in their support.”

It was indeed a great effort Iffco had to put in to get entry into the ICA Board after the demise of Surender Jakhar. Gowda and Patel could not make it and finally Aditya Yadav did and choice of his candidature is said to have proved a crucial factor.

The margin of victory was no less impressive with Mr Yadav gaining 136 votes while the next candidate receiving a paltry 72.

A victorious Aditya said ‘’ I am delighted and honoured to have been chosen by my colleagues to serve on the Alliance’s Board.”
