IFFCO retains its position on global board of ICA

Reacting to the news emerging from the ICA’s global cooperative meet currently underway in Spain, the co-op giant of India, IFFCO has thanked global co-op members for reposing their faith once again in IFFCO’s nominee Aditya Yadav.

In a tweet, Dr. U S Awasthi, MD of the co-op titan said “Glad to share that #IFFCO nominee Mr. Aditya Yadav from @IFFDC_Ltd has retained the seat in the newly elected Board of Directors of @icacoop at the #ICAGA2022 with a huge margin. It’s Victory of Indian Cooperative Movement which showcases power the of #SahkarSeSamriddhi. “

It bears recall that on Tuesday a new Board of Directors of the International Cooperative Alliance has also been elected. Twenty-two candidates were standing for 15 seats on the Board. Aditya Yadav from IFFCO (India) was also elected polling the second largest number of votes.

Congratulations began pouring in for Aditya Yadav who has won for the second time at the global co-op body.

Earlier, the members of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) renewed the mandate of Ariel Guarco for the next four years. From a total of 769 total votes, Guarco has been re-elected President of the ICA with 445 of the votes, as reported earlier in these columns.

“Two other candidates were standing for ICA President: Melina Morrison, who obtained 164 votes, nominated by Business Council of Co-operatives and Mutuals, Australia, and Jean-Louis Bancel, who obtained 160 votes, nominated by Coop FR, France”, confirms ICA’s news coop.

Around 400 cooperative leaders from 60 countries gathered in Seville, for the General Assembly. The General Assembly also included a speech from the President of COOPUkraine, an ICA member from Ukraine, who spoke to the audience sharing information about the situation of the cooperative movement in his country and calling for global support.
