Futuristic move: IFFCO inaugurates Nano Fertilizer lab

With an aim to reduce the use of chemical in farming and double the income of farmers by increasing production and reducing expenditure, the fertilizer cooperative giant IFFCO inaugurated ‘IFFCO Tarafdar Nano Lab’ at Kalol plant in Gujarat last week.

The news was shared by its Managing Director Dr U S Awasthi on his twitter wall. He wrote, “Glad to share that today I inaugurated #IFFCO Tarafdar Nano Fertiliser Lab at #Kalol plant in #Gujarat. It’s a future looking step for #IFFCO and #farmers of the country. It will also help in enhancing the soil nutrition of our country”.

Recently talking to journalists in a press conference held in Chandigarh, IFFCO Marketing Director Yogendra Kumar also touched upon Nano-fertilizer-a new field about which not many people know. “2 gram of nano would take care of a hectare of land”, Kumar had declared.

Besides Awasthi, IFFCO Director Dileepbhai Sanghani, IFFCO officials and several others were present on an occasion which witnessed uncommon enthusiasm among people.

Experts believe that using nano technology based products will certainly help reduce expenditure on pesticides and fertilizers as well as also help in maintaining soil health and improving the quality of agriculture products.

This new variant of fertilizer was developed by Dr J C Tarafdar of the Central Arid Zone Research Institute under the Indian Agriculture Research Institute (IARI).

It bears recall that IFFCO launched an ambitious e-commerce app “IFFCO iMandi” in Chandigarh recently aimed at connecting crores of farmers and offering them a one stop shop for everything they need- they could buy agri inputs and sell their produce. “IFFCO Tarafdar Nano Fertiliser” is sure to help enhance the attractiveness iMandi, said an IFFCO official.
