Foundation stone: IFFCO’s Sagarika to be produced from Jharkhand

In a move which is bound to lend speed to the developmental efforts currently underway in Deoghar region of Jharkhand, the largest fertilizer cooperative in the country IFFCO laid foundation for setting up a production unit for its flagship organic fertilizer product- Sagarika.

BJP MP from Godda Nishikant Dubey laid the foundation stone of ”IFFCO Product Sagarika Production Unit” at Jasidih Industrial Area, Deoghar on Tuesday. IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi was also present on the occasion. Besides, Deoghar MLA Narayan Das, IFFCO Marketing Head Yogendra Kumar and local DM and several other important persons of the area were present during the inauguration.

It is in line with IFFCO’s promise of encouraging organic fertiliser, said an IFFCO official. “Though we are known internationally for producing high-quality chemical fertilisers but responding to the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi IFFCO is focusing on organic products also in a big way, he added.

IFFCO has also begun an exercise across the states of encouraging farmers to take to organic fertilizer and its Marketing Director Yogendra Kumar explains their benefits to farmers in all such meetings. Kumar is held as one of the star campaigners of organic stuff, especially due to his oratory skills.

Sagarika is an organic bio-stimulant derived from red and brown seaweeds, which enhances crop productivity and provides resistance against stress. It is available in both liquid and granular variants. The initial response of the farmers for these products is very positive and encouraging.

It is said Sagarika product is very useful for soil and is better for maintaining its quality. Sharing the development through social media, IFFCO MD wrote on his twitter wall, “Today Godda, Jharakhand, MP Nishikant Dubey laid the foundation stone of #IFFCO Products #Sagarika Products Plant at Deoghar. @iffcoyogendra, Marketing Director, IFFCO was also present. This auspicious work started by planting trees. Sagarika is one of the best products of IFFCO”, he further wrote.

MD and the parliamentarian also planted trees on the occasion. Prior to the foundation ceremonies, IFFCO officials offered prayer to Baidyanath Jyotirlinga Temple at Deoghar. A silver door has been installed by IFFCO at the exit gate of Temple.

IFFCO MD Uday Shankar Awasthi and MP Nishikant Dubey were also present during the installation of silver door. This door has been donated by IFFCO and is made up of 35 kg of silver and 250 kg of brass have been used for making the door.

Besides, the MP inaugurated the IFFCO E Bazar in Godda in the presence of more than 200 farmers. The IFFCO Bazar is a one stop shop catering to the farmers’ requirements of fertilizers, seeds, agro chemicals, pesticides and agricultural tools etc.

The Bazar also provides other Products & Services such as Health Check-up, Micro Banking, solar LED lights etc.
