Farmers’ Connect: MD nearly makes it; covers 120 so far

Unmindful of challenges- be it weather or distance or fatigue- IFFCO Managing Director Dr U S Awasthi is busy hurrying to cover 125 destinations -an itinerary planned during the opening ceremony of celebrating the 50th year of the fertilizer giant. Till now he has covered 120 destinations meeting farmers and cooperators.

Even cooperators much younger in age wonder at his stamina.” Not only does he travels from Kashmir to Kanyakumari effortlessly but also meets each and every farmers who come to hear him at each location; I marvel at his energy”, said a cooperator who had a chance to attend one of Awasthi’s meetings.

This week he covered four destinations including Moradabad, Saharanpur, Kurukshetra and Kashmir the 117, 118, 119, and 120th destinations respectively.

Addressing farmers in Moradabad, the IFFCO MD spoke on the importance of Neem trees and various steps IFFCO is taking in this regard. One of the farmers showcased his production of cauliflower which was praised by MD and later he posted the photograph on social media.

He tweeted “In Moradabad many farmers have exemplified their advanced cultivation to other farmers present on the occasion”. Sharing the success stories of an area on a wider scale has been his practice in this unique journey of connecting to farmers, said one of his team members.

As usual, Awasthi inaugurated the cooperative exhibition and health and eye check up camps held for farmers. IFFCO’s Director Shishpal Singh who accompanied Dr U S Awasthi also spoke on the occasion.

During his trip, Awasthi felicitated 10 farmers and 10 cooperators on the occasion and said the initiative of IFFCO is to encourage farmers.

In Saharanpur, Awasthi addressed more than 1000 farmers and said “Women farmers and cooperators are the important part of the IFFCO family. We always inspire women to come forward, he wrote on his twitter wall.

“In Saharanpur, he urged farmers to connect with IFFCO’s digital Platform. Through this platform farmers can buy seeds, manure, medicine and other agricultural inputs which can directly be delivered at their doorstep”, he tweeted.

In Kurukshetra his 119th destination in connect farmers campaign, . IFFCO Managing Director Dr U S Awasthi focused on Digital transaction and the need of mobile banking.

Dr Awasthi urged farmers to use their debit or credit card to buy agriculture inputs to promote cashless transactions in a big way. To provide farmers, with necessary information, IFFCO organized a mobile banking camp on the occasion.
