Cash crunch : Awasthi tries to sooth frayed tempers

Trying to sooth the frayed tempers IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi has appealed to people to remain calm and contribute their bit in building a corruption-free India. He said so amidst rising public anger across the country over limited cash availability.

Awasthi exhorted people to support the Prime Minister and have faith on him. His tweet read” Now it’s time to support the man, the PM Narendra Modi. Let’s keep our faith intact & will see new stronger, corruption free India for sure.”

Closed ATMs and serpentine queues at Banks have shaken even some supporters of Modi. Wailing women and harassed customers are a common sight as soon as one turns TV news channels. Asking his followers to have patience MD said “The change made by PM is futuristic. Might look little difficult but a right step towards strong & clean democratic nation.”

Modi himself was emotional on Sunday and appealed to the people to support the move while asking them to bear the “pain for 50 days” to help him deliver. Several other projects were in the offing to curb the menace of corruption, Modi added.

Meanwhile, the government eased key restrictions including raising daily withdrawal limit from bank counters and ATM as well as hiking the amount of old and now defunct currency notes that can be exchanged.

Newly printed hard-to-fake Rs. 500 notes were also released in market.
