IFFCO’s Managing Director Dr U S Awasthi who had been advised rest in the wake of an eye surgery last week, joined office on Thursday. Dr Awasthi whose absence was being felt by the staff and visitors alike at the IFFCO headquarters was supposed to join office next Monday but apparently the mounting pressure of office work forced him to prepone his joining.
IFFCO PR tweeted soon after his joining “ We are Happy to share @drusawasthi has resumed office today after Eye Surgery. We wish him Best of Health.”
IFFCO activities however showed no signs of slackening as Awasthi kep tabs on things even during his convalescence. The first time he went for a post-operation check-up he asked his PR team to release IFFCO’s impressive figures of performance in the financial Year 2014-15.
IFFCO notched up profits before tax of about Rs 1036 crore and a turnover of around Rs 24700 crore.
It was a minor yet complex eye surgery that Awasthi underwent last week. The post-operation schedule demanded that he should lie down with his head downwards for some days so that his eye muscle could get enough flow of blood.
It was his remarkable progress after each check-up with the doctors that Awasthi felt comfortable about joining earlier than planned. The doctors who saw him on Wednesday green-lighted his resumption of normal routine. .
