ICA AP: Intense parleys for Chandra Pal’s Victory; Manifesto applauded

The Indian brigade led by NCUI President Dileep Sanghani held several rounds of consultation throughout the day on Monday with the prospective voters to ensure India’s victory in the ICA AP elections, slated for today that is Tuesday.

Kribhco’s Chairman Dr. Chandra Pal Singh Yadav who is the Presidential candidate for ICA Asia Pacific is taking on Japanese Chitose Arai. The votes would be cast electronically during the day and by 5.30 PM Indian time, the results would be out.

On Monday, the Indian team divided itself into several smaller groups and launched the campaign. The top leaders including Sanghani, Chandra Pal, Sunil, and IFFCO official Tarun Bhargav could be seen confabulating with the Iranian team, seeking their support.

India can win Iranian support by pledging to support the latter in its Vice-Presidential contest. Malaysia, China, and Iran are in the fray for the Vice-chairmanship. Two of the three will finally make it.

Efforts to win co-operators from Nepal also gained momentum on Monday. India in general and IFFCO, in particular, have always stood by Nepal in the wake of any disaster such as massive earthquakes of the recent past.

“We have not left anything to chance as we have contacted all countries large or small seeking support for Indian candidate Dr. Chandra Pal Singh Yadav”, said Biscomaun Chairman on WhatsApp call from Seoul. “We will win”, he said, displaying a victory sign.

IFFCO has also fully thrown its weight behind Chandra Pal. Besides Sanghani, Tarun Bharagav is also busy coordinating with the voters. With having a Board seat at the global body ICA, IFFCO is said to be in a better position to influence voters.

Meanwhile, the 10-point manifesto released by Dr. Chandra Pal is catching cooperators’ fancy. The presidential enthusiast promises to work closely with fellow cooperatives and national governments for creating an enabling legal and policy framework to uphold the democratic & autonomous character of the cooperative institutions.

His other takes include devising strategies to Strengthen and Rebuild Coops in Asia Pacific Region Post COVID-19 Pandemic and Strengthening the resources and network of ICA-AP to achieve the goals of Gender Equality, Women Empowerment, and Socioeconomic Equality in the region.

Strengthening the capacity of Youth through focused Cooperative programs at Educational & Business Institutions, initiation on Climate Action, Focus on Data Collection and Research, and Creating a Roadmap for Innovation and Sustainable Initiatives and Promoting C2C Trade amongst Coops of the Region are some of them.

Chandra Pal also focuses to Expand Member Base in ICA-AP Network with a special focus on the Middle East, Central Asia, and the Pacific, Reach out to Each and Every Member to understand their requirements and formulate a need-based Strategy and Action Plan to address the gaps and Promote Skill-Based Training Programs for generation of Income of Coop Members and Share Best Practices across countries.
