Tapeshwar Babu remembered

A function on the eve of death anniversary of the doyen of cooperatives Shri Tapeshwar Singh was organized at his erstwhile residence at Boring Canal Road in Patna on 27th February. The elder son of Tapeshwar Babu Mr Ajay Singh was the prime mover of the show.

Several cooperators from across various districts of the state came on this occasion. People numbering more than thousand and from areas such as Purnea, Saharasa, Siwan, Muzaffer Pur and Darbhanga came to pay respect to the great leader.

Tapeshwar Babu is held as the unparalleled cooperator from Bihar who rose to head the apex cooperative body National Cooperative Union of India, NCUI. He was also a senior congress leader and on this occasion several congressmen had also come to grace the occasion.

Talking on the occasion, the congress leader Jiwananad Jha compared Tapeshwar Singh to Lalit Narayan Mishra who was Union Railway Minister in Indira Gandhi Cabinet. Both the leaders were large hearted and had knack of carrying people along with them, he added.

Biscomaun Chairman Sunil Singh whose name shone on the invitation card was conspicuous by his absence. And so were several other leaders including Tapeshwar Singh’s grandson Vishal Singh.
