The B-PACS membership campaign recently launched in Uttar Pradesh by the state chief minister Yogi Adityanath is coming up with good results. The PACS located in different districts of the state have already achieved half of their targets.

Against the total membership target of 20 lakh, the 10.06 lakh new members were made till September 16, 2023. A total share capital of Rs 25.36 crore was collected from these members.

Talking to the Indian Cooperative correspondent Uttar Pradesh State Cooperative Bank Managing Director R K Kulshrestha said, “The campaign for making new members of PACS is running at a good pace and we are hoping that we will cross the target in a time bound manner”.

“The Pilibhit district stands at top position with a total members of 26,762 as on 16th September 2023. The district surpassed the prescribed targets. After Pilibhit, Rampur, Shahjahanpur, Bijnor and Bulandshahr fall in top five. Besides, if we talk about which division is in the topmost position, then it is the Meerut division with a total member of 92,542 till 16th September 2023”, said Kulshrestha.

There are 7,348 PACS in Uttar Pradesh. The majority of them are in Azamgarh whereas the smallest number of them is in Ghaziabad.

Uttar Pradesh Cooperation Minister JPS Rathore also congratulated the Chairmen of DCCBs, PACS, Cooperative Department Officials and others through social media for achieving impressive targets.

It bears recalling that a few days back, Rathore reviewed the targets of the membership campaign. Rathore said, “With the increase in membership, the PACS of the state will become stronger. We are making an effort to make Uttar Pradesh in the top five states in five years in the field of cooperation in the country”.

The review meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Cooperative B.L. Meena, PCU Managing Shrikant Goswami, Chairman and Secretaries/Chief Executive Officers of District Cooperative Banks and many others.

It bears recall that the dynamic CM of UP, Yogi Adityanath launched the B-PACS membership campaign from his residence in Lucknow on 1st September 2023. The campaign is aimed at increasing membership of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) in the state.

The target is to make 20 lakh new members of PACS, which can lead to a deposit of Rs 100 crore as share capital.

It is worth mentioning that soon after taking charge of the new Union Cooperation Ministry, Amit Shah introduced many new things in improving the conditions of PACS. Several initiatives were launched under his leadership and new avenues have been opened for PACS.
