Yoga Day creates Guinness Record; Cooperators join in strength

Cooperators, as well as cooperative societies across the country, celebrated the ninth International Yoga Day on 21st June 2023 at their respective places. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi who is the man behind this idea celebrated the Day at the UN Headquarters which created the Guinness World Record for people of most nationalities doing Yoga together.

Many cooperators including NCUI President Dileepbhai Sanghani, Kribhco Chairman Dr. Chandra Pal Singh Yadav, Nafed Chairman Bijendra Singh, and others performed Yoga to become a part of the celebrations.

NCUI President Dileep Sanghani wrote, “Happy International Yoga Day. Yoga is an ancient form of Indian culture that fills the human body with new energy”.

Commenting on the day, IFFCO MD Dr. US Awasthi wrote “Healthy Greetings of #InternationalYogaDay to everyone. Yoga is an amalgamation of science & art which keeps us active & fresh;physically as well as mentally. A perfect combination of wellness, fitness & internal spirituality. Stay Fit & Healthy. #IYD2023 #InternationalYogaDay”, Dr U S Awasthi said.

TRIFED also celebrated the Day by supplying yoga mats as one of its tweets read “TRIFED collaborates with the Ministry of Ayush to supply 34,000 yoga mats. Our empaneled tribal artisans from West Bengal, Odisha, and Jharkhand have successfully fulfilled the order on time”.

The news of the celebrations also poured in at the desk of the Indian Cooperative. Several state, district and primary level cooperatives greeted the nation on the occasion through social media.

On the occasion of International Yoga Day, under the training of yoga instructors Renu Pandey and Pramod Kumar Pandey, the officials and employees of Jharkhand State Cooperative Bank performed yoga at the bank’s headquarters.

The Yoga Day was performed by Janata Cooperative Bank Ltd, Pune Staff Welfare Association. On this occasion, the officers and employees of the bank enthusiastically participated in the program like ‘Surya Namaskar Mahayagya’.

Uttar Pradesh based Basti District Cooperative Bank also organized a program on the occasion of International Yoga Day.

In his short speech at the UN Headquarters Modi said “Yoga is portable, it is flexible. It can be done in a group or can be self-taught. It is unifying and one for all ethnicities, culture. Yoga is truly universal,” said PM Modi.

UN Chief António Guterres lauded Modi on the occasion saying “I want to recognise PM Narendra Modi for all he has done to promote understanding of Yoga and its many benefits. Yoga unites. It unites body and mind, humanity and nature and millions of people across the globe for whom it is a source of strength, harmony and peace.”

Back home, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah also greeted the nation on this occasion. Shah tweeted, “Best wishes to all on ‘International Yoga Day’. Yoga is the medium to concentrate the body, mind and soul, which not only makes the body healthy but also the brain”.

“This is an invaluable heritage given by India to the world, which Narendra Modi ji has worked to take to the whole world. Due to Modi ji’s influence today ‘Yoga’ has become the lifestyle of people all over the world”, Shah tweeted in Hindi.
