In response to the ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia and their potential impact on global fertiliser supply chains, the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited has launched a nationwide “Nano Fertiliser Prachar Maha Abhiyan” to promote the adoption of nano fertilisers as a sustainable and self-reliant alternative for Indian farmers.
The campaign comes at a time when disruptions in the supply of natural gas and key raw materials, critical inputs for conventional fertiliser production, are raising concerns about availability and price volatility. IFFCO, one of the world’s largest fertiliser cooperatives, is positioning its indigenously developed nano fertilisers as a strategic solution to mitigate these risks.
IFFCO Managing Director K. J. Patel echoed similar sentiments, underlining the technological and economic advantages of nano fertilisers. “Nano fertilisers represent the future of farming. They not only enhance nutrient efficiency but also significantly reduce input costs and environmental impact. At a time when global supply chains are under stress, these ‘Made in India’ solutions can ensure continuity and resilience in agriculture,” Patel noted.
The Maha Abhiyan aims to reach farmers across the country through awareness drives, demonstrations, and cooperative networks, promoting a wide range of nano fertiliser products including Nano Urea and Nano DAP. These products are designed to improve crop yields while reducing excessive use of traditional fertilisers, thereby preserving soil health and minimizing ecological damage.
IFFCO’s initiative aligns closely with the broader national vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) and
The organisation also drew inspiration from the leadership of Narendra Modi and guidance from Amit Shah, under whose vision the cooperative sector has been gaining renewed momentum. IFFCO reiterated its commitment to strengthening Indian agriculture and improving farmers’ livelihoods through innovation and collective effort.
According to IFFCO, nano fertilisers are not just an alternative input but a transformative step toward modern, cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable farming. By reducing dependency on imports and leveraging cutting-edge technology, these products have the potential to position India as a global leader in fertiliser innovation.
As the campaign gains momentum, IFFCO is calling upon farmers to adopt this swadeshi initiative and become active participants in building a resilient agricultural ecosystem. “From the fields to the villages, and from cooperatives to communities, nano fertilisers are the next giant step toward achieving prosperity for every farmer,” the organisation said.
The Maha Abhiyan, thus, represents both a timely response to a global crisis and a long-term strategy to secure India’s agricultural future through innovation, cooperation, and self-reliance.
