WB: Cooperative staff open letter to CM

We, the staff of Calcutta Wholesale Con .Cooperative Society Ltd are in great distress. Being appointed through West Bengal Cooperative Service Commission treated on par with WB Public Service Commission in status and position, we are deprived of the status of Commission.

Our salary is from TE 4000-/-p.m to TE 6000/-.After 30 years manager of this concern is getting Rs 6000/ p.m. whereas the group D staff of state government is drawing Rs 10,000 per month.

The clerkship examination of PSC is like that of WB Cooperative Service Commission. Yet we are not getting at least salary of Group D staff of state government. Our status is grocery worker. The society may wind up at any time because it is in loss for several years.

It is not possible for the society to give us salary by retail selling rice, dal, mustard oil etc .We demand immediate withdrawal of our service from here to Cooperative sectors attached to state government, Cooperation department in Writer’s building, local cooperative Bank as per our address & reservation in state government service, age relaxation in any government service. There is no environment of work in this society.

Our duty hours are from 10 a.m to 7.30 p.m in total violation of labour act whereas duty hours of PSC recommended clerks is from 10 a.m to 5.pm. It is shame for state that a group D staff with class eight qualification gets starting salary Rs 10,000 whereas a staff with graduation and knowledge of computer application selected through Cooperative Service Commission gets T.E 4000/- -5000/ p.m.

There are nine government officers in our society and their salary is paid by the government of west Bengal and their duty hours is from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. West Bengal government should have thought of Cooperative service commission recommended staff, before passing the Cooperative service commission bill.

There are also School Service Commission and Calcutta Municipal Service Commission in West Bengal. The selected candidates through them get government pay with security of service. We have no security of service. We already informed the secretary of Cooperative service commission of the fact.

He informed us verbally that it is government policy & he has nothing to do. In view of the situation we have no option but to commit suicide if no redress is made in this respect from the present state government. Our request to CM of West Bengal to do something for us .
