IFFCO’s first Nano Urea plant in South India, located in Bengaluru, Karnataka, is set to usher in a transformative shift in agriculture across the southern states. With its cutting-edge range of nano fertilisers, the facility promises to significantly boost farm productivity and benefit millions of farmers.

Though still in its trial phase, the plant has already generated significant buzz due to its state-of-the-art technology, automated systems, and minimal human intervention.

A team from Indian Cooperative recently visited the facility and was deeply impressed by the advanced machinery and innovation on display. While this is IFFCO’s fifth Nano Fertiliser production unit in India, it is the first such plant in the southern region, specifically developed to serve the growing needs of farmers in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Kerala.

Equipped with advanced automation and smart manufacturing systems, the Bengaluru unit is designed to produce upto 2 lakh bottles (500 ml each) of Nano Urea Plus daily, using IFFCO’s patented technology.

The plant has the potential to replace nearly 50% of conventional urea usage across southern India, substantially reducing dependency on imports and advancing sustainable farming practices.

IFFCO’s Senior General Manager and Unit Head Sanjay Kulshreshtha, who has played a key role in setting up and operating the plant, gave a comprehensive tour to the Indian Cooperative team.

“This cutting-edge unit can produce 2 lakh bottles of Nano Urea Plus every day. In the long run, it can drastically reduce reliance on conventional urea in southern India, lower import costs, and promote precision farming,” said Kulshreshtha.

The plant functions in a highly controlled environment, ensuring strict adherence to Fertiliser Control Order (FCO) norms. From rigorous screening of raw materials to precision-controlled manufacturing processes and final product testing, every stage is meticulously managed. The facility also houses a NABL-accredited Quality Control laboratory, guaranteeing consistency and top-tier product quality.

The Bengaluru unit reflects IFFCO’s unwavering commitment to efficiency, sustainability, and innovation. Despite the complexity of the project, it was completed on time and within budget, setting new industry benchmarks in project execution, safety, and cost-effectiveness.

IFFCO’s Nano Urea is widely recognized as a game-changer in fertilisation. It improves nutrient use efficiency, enhances nitrogen absorption, and significantly reduces nitrate leaching. Additionally, it promotes soil health, requires less water, and has a lower carbon footprint than conventional urea.

Looking ahead, approvals for new grades of Nano Fertilizers are underway. IFFCO also plans to introduce solar energy systems, expand community welfare programs, and undertake extensive tree plantation drives, underscoring its commitment to holistic rural development.

Spread across approximately 12 acres, the Bengaluru Nano Urea plant is not just a manufacturing facility, it stands as a symbol of sustainable progress and agricultural innovation, poised to reshape farming across South India for generations to come.

It is worth mentioning that IFFCO MD Dr. U.S. Awasthi recently visited the Bengaluru Nano Urea plant, where he interacted with officials and shared his insights on Nano Fertilisers and the future of agriculture in India.

Later, he posted a video showcasing the Bengaluru facility, captioned, “Presenting IFFCO’s Nano Fertilisers Plant, Bengaluru, with advanced features making production and operations more efficient and seamless. At IFFCO, we leverage the latest technologies to ensure the highest quality products.”
