A milestone moment for India’s cooperative sector unfolded at the Bharat Cooperative Banking Summit 2025 in Mumbai with the debut of Mettarev Systems’ AI-powered Bank Statement Analysis (BSA) platform.
The startup, incubated at the VAMNICOM Incubation Centre, has emerged as a promising fintech innovator, creating a platform that empowers cooperative banks through intelligent, cloud-based analysis, streamlining credit assessments, enhancing compliance, and saving time for frontline banking staff.
The VAMNICOM Incubation Centre, inaugurated in July 2023 at Pune’s Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management, is a flagship initiative aligned with the Ministry of Cooperation’s agenda to foster innovation within the cooperative ecosystem. Under the larger “Sahakar se Samriddhi” vision led by Union Minister Shri Amit Shah, the Centre has become a launchpad for technology-driven ideas with real grassroots impact.
Mettarev Systems is one such success story. With a focus on digital lending, their newly launched BSA tool uses AI and machine learning to analyse borrower data, detect fraud risks, and speed up loan decisioning, tailored specifically for cooperative credit institutions. The tool also enhances financial inclusion by offering a borrower-centric analysis, which better captures informal income patterns often missed by conventional banking models.
Backed by structured mentoring, Mettarev’s journey reflects the Centre’s broader mission. Since inception, the VAMNICOM Incubation Centre has engaged with over 40 startups and cooperatives, conducting nationwide workshops and working closely with PACS, SHGs, and urban cooperative banks. It collaborates with NABARD, NAFCUB, and NUCFDC, pushing sectoral digitization, diversification, and innovation.
“The national launch of Mettarev Systems is not just a win for one startup, but a validation of our incubation model,” said Dr. Mahesh Kadam, COO of the Incubation Centre. He added that plans are in place for India’s first Cooperative Startup Registry, sector-specific innovation labs, and global tie-ups with cooperatives in countries like Kenya, Japan, and Germany.
In positioning Mettarev Systems as a tech-first catalyst, VAMNICOM has reinforced its role as a crucial hub for India’s cooperative future, where innovation meets purpose, and grassroots finance gains cutting-edge momentum.
